Description
The baby rattle is made from laminated hardwoods (such as white oak, cherry, maple, walnut, and apricot), and/or Baltic birch plywood. The rattle comes from glass beads placed inside the assembly.
The finish is Hampshire Sheen Food & Toy Safe Gloss Finishing Wax. It “complies to food contact and toy safe regulations in the UK, EU, US, Canada and Australia.” There is a lot of misinformation out there regarding “safe” finishes, but rest assured that this is. Occasionally clean the outside of the rattle with a soft cloth, mild soap and warm water, but do not submerge it!
I have also designed this rattle to exceed US Consumer Product guidelines, which state that “a rattle diameter must be 111⁄16″ or larger”. My rattles are at, or just slightly under 2″ in diameter, but please let common sense rule the day and always supervise your little one while they play with it. And if you ever notice signs of wear, cracking, or any other fault, immediately stop using it!
